Separate stores at the same address

When two stores have exactly the same latitude and longitude, their markers occupy the same pixel on the map. The marker drawn last can cover the others, making individual stores difficult to select.

This commonly happens with stores inside the same mall, hospital, office building, campus, or shared commercial address.

Move each overlapping pin slightly inside the building footprint. The postal address remains unchanged; only the coordinates used to position the map marker are adjusted.

Step 1: Open one of the overlapping stores​

  1. In WordPress, go to Store Locator → Stores.
  2. Find one of the stores sharing the address.
  3. Select Edit.
  4. Open the Location section if it is not already visible.

Step 2: Zoom in before moving the pin​

In Pin Location, zoom in until you can clearly see the building or property. At a city-level zoom, a small drag can accidentally move the store several streets away.

Step 3: move the marker slightly​

Drag the pin a few pixels away from the shared position. Keep it within the same building or property. If latitude and longitude fields are visible, you can also make a very small coordinate change manually.

Do not edit Address line 1, city, state, postal code, or country merely to separate markers. Customers should still see the real address.

Step 4: save and repeat​

  1. Save the store.
  2. Edit the next store at that address.
  3. Move its pin in a different direction by a similarly small amount.
  4. Save again.

Confirm the result​

Open the public locator and zoom into the address. Each marker should now be visible and clickable, and each marker should open the correct store infobox. Also test the result with clustering both enabled and disabled if your layout changes clustering by viewport.

Important notes​

  • The offset affects distance calculations by a tiny amount. Keep it minimal.
  • Do not spread markers across roads or neighboring buildings.
  • If many stores share one complex, clustering may still group them at lower zoom levels. That is expected; the individual pins should separate as the visitor zooms in.
  • If stores must remain at mathematically identical coordinates, use the store list as the reliable selection method and enable marker navigation where appropriate.
