Add a store and place its map marker

Every public location begins as a Store record. The address is what customers read; Pin Location coordinates determine where the marker appears and how radius and distance calculations work.

1. Create the store

  1. In WordPress, go to Store Locator → Stores.
  2. Select Add New.
  3. Enter the customer-facing store name.
  4. Set Status to Active when the store should appear publicly. Use Pending or an inactive status while preparing the record.

2. Enter the complete address

Open Location → Address and complete the appropriate fields:

  • Address line 1;
  • Address line 2, when needed;
  • City;
  • State or region;
  • Postal code;
  • Country.

Do not place the whole address in one field. Structured address parts improve display, filtering, imports, and geocoding.

3. Position the pin

Use Pin Location to geocode the address. Zoom in and confirm the marker sits on the correct building entrance or property—not the city center, postal-code center, or a similarly named road.

If geocoding cannot identify the address, drag the marker to the correct location or enter verified latitude and longitude. Changing only the written address does not guarantee that old coordinates are updated, so always recheck the pin after an address change.

4. Set store-specific information

Select the correct timezone before adding opening hours. Assign categories and a brand where applicable. Add contact details, image/gallery, description, and custom fields required by the store card or details page.

Under Location → Map Marker, leave the global default selected or assign a different marker.

5. Save and verify

Save the store, then open the published locator while logged out. Search for the store by name and address and verify:

  • it appears only when its status is Active;
  • the marker is on the correct property;
  • marker and list result refer to the same store;
  • categories and brand filters include it;
  • opening status uses the store timezone;
  • details, directions, phone, and custom links use this store's values.

If several stores share one building and cover one another, see Separate stores at the same address.

Update several stores together

Use bulk edit when the same classification or operational value must change on several stores:

  1. Go to Store Locator → Stores.
  2. Select the checkbox beside each store. The header checkbox selects the stores on the current page.
  3. Select Bulk edit in the selection bar.
  4. Choose one of the available actions:
    • Update status replaces the status on every selected store.
    • Add categories adds the chosen categories while preserving each store's existing categories.
    • Update custom field lets you choose an admin-created Store custom field and assign one value to every selected store.
    • Update brand replaces the current brand on every selected store.
  5. Choose or enter the value, then select Apply update.

Bulk changes take effect immediately and can alter which stores appear publicly. Filter the Stores table first when that helps you build a precise selection, and verify a sample store after applying a large update. Delete selected remains a separate destructive action and always asks for confirmation.
